Frequently asked questions

What size is a Schengen visa photo?+

All 27 Schengen countries accept the same 35×45 mm biometric photo aligned with ICAO 9303: light grey background, head 32–36 mm chin to crown, neutral expression, taken in the last 6 months.

Is the same photo accepted by every Schengen consulate?+

Yes. The Schengen Visa Code (Regulation (EC) 810/2009) standardises photo requirements across France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Portugal, Greece, Austria and every other Schengen state.

Can I wear glasses in a Schengen visa photo?+

No. Since 2016 EU member states no longer accept photos with glasses except for documented medical reasons — and even then, no reflection and no tinted lenses.
